Tour description

In the morning, we will meet you at your hotel in Yerevan and then travel to the Geghama mountains in all-terrain vehicles. The road to the mountains starts after reaching the Geghard village. After traveling for 1 hour, we will reach a height of 3,000 meters. From here, we will begin to hike towards the tallest peak in the Geghama mountains, Azhdahak, which is 3,597 meters.

After hiking for 3 hours and 600 more meters, we will reach the peak, which will provide us with beautiful views of Ararat, Lake Sevan, the Geghama Highlands, and Mount Aragats. We will take a small break at the peak and eat lunch. We will admire the views and then start our descent. When we reach our car, we will go to see the Geghama mountains’ petroglyphs, which are between 5,000 and 7,000 years old. Here, there are 20,000 petroglyphs, which has made the Geghama mountains the largest center of petroglyphs in Armenia. Then, we will go to the Vank Lake, where there are 2 Vishapakars (dragon stones) on the shore. After learning more about the history and meaning of these Vishapakars, we will return to Yerevan. On the way back, we can stop at the Geghard Monastery and the pagan temple of Garni upon request.
