Tour description

The tour will begin from your hotel in the morning. We will travel to the Garni village, which is where we will begin our hike to the Khosrov Reserve. The path to the Garni village will take us to the Azat river canyon, where we will be able to see the famous natural site, the Symphony of Stones. It is a natural formation of hexagonal strips of rock that vaguely resembles a massive pipe organ. After crossing the medieval bridge built across the Azat river, we will enter the territory of the reserve. After walking for 3 kilometers, we will reach the ruins of the Havuts Tar medieval monastery complex. This monastery was one of the most important centers for religion and culture in Medieval Armenia. It was destroyed in the 17th century by an earthquake. We will rest here and eat lunch, and then we will return to the Garni village and visit the Temple of Garni, which was built in the 1st century. This is the only pagan temple in Armenia that has been rebuilt. At the end of the tour, we will visit the nearby Geghard monastery (13th century), which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. We will return to Yerevan in the evening.
