Tour description
In the morning, we will meet you at your hotel in Yerevan and then travel to the Vayots Dzor region. We will reach the Areni village in 2 hours, which is the site of the oldest winery in the world. The residents of the village continue their winemaking traditions to this day. When we arrive in Areni, we will visit the Bird Cave and see the ancient clay pots that people used to make wine during ritual ceremonies 6,000 years ago. We will continue on to the Yeghegis village, where we will begin our hike to Smbataberd. We will reach Smbataberd, which was constructed in the 10th century, after walking 3.5 kilometers. This is one of the best-kept fortresses in Armenia and it continues to surprise visitors with its strong defensive walls. After we finish our hike, we will go to one of the best wineries in Vayots Dzor to refresh ourselves with delicious Armenian wine. We will visit Noravank at the end of the tour, which is one of the many beautiful examples of Armenian architecture.
