Tour description

In the morning, we will meet you at your hotel in Yerevan and travel to the northern regions of Armenia. Our first stop will be at the largest lake in Armenia, Sevan. Here, we will visit the Sevanavank monastery complex, which is located on the Sevan peninsula. After we learn more about the monastery’s history and admire the beautiful views of the lake, we will continue on to the Tavush region. We will reach the Yenokavan village, which is where we will continue our hike to the Lastiver Resort. After hiking through the forest trails, we will reach Lastiver, where we will enjoy waterfalls and visit the Lastiver caves, which have been inhabited since ancient times. The caves are at the edge of a massive gorge. A long time ago, people were forced to create a long ladder of logs that were placed on top of one another in order to reach the cave. The construction looked more like a raft than stairs, which is why the village is called “Lastiver”: “up the raft.” Another story suggests that people climbed to the caves using a rope tied to a raft. When they would sit on the raft, the person climbing to the caves would yell, “Go up the raft!” or, move the raft upwards.

When we complete our hike, we will go to Dilijan where we will visit the Old Dilijan complex and see the wooden architecture of Dilijan. We will return to Yerevan in the evening.
